† Social Security Administration Expands Israeli Firmís Software Contract
Top Image Systems (TIS), a Tel Aviv based provider of enterprise solutions for managing and validating business content, has been awarded a contract extension valued at approximately $400,000 from the Maryland-based Social Security Administration, which has used its data capture software since 2000. TISís software solutions integrate different types of data from multiple sources, such as invoices, customer correspondence, forms, freight/shipping bills and purchase orders, and seamlessly delivers the extracted data to enterprise applications such as document and content management, ERP or CRM systems. By storing the application forms as digital images rather than as paper, the SSA has immediate, secured, on-line access to all the information with no need to deliver hard copies to various locations. In addition, application processing time is reduced, increasing efficiency and accuracy, at a significant cost savings. 20th Anniversary of US/Israel Free Trade Agreement April 2005 marked the 20th anniversary of the US/Israel Free Trade agreement (FTA), the first such agreement for the U.S, and the basis behind other free-trade agreements with international partners. Since signing the FTA, U.S. exports to Israel have grown from $1.8 billion to $6.9 billion, an increase of 207 percent. At the same time, U.S. imports from Israel have jumped from less than $2.2 billion in 1984, to more than $12.7 billion in 2003, an increase of 428 percent. The overall volume of trade between the two countries has risen 318 percent, from less than $4 billion in 1984 to more than $20 billion in 2004. The basis behind the FTA was to give American companies exporting to Israel an advantage over competitors by eliminating all trade tariffs. In addition, as one of only three countries with free trade agreements with both the United States and the European Community, Israel has acted as a bridge for international trade between America and Europe.
