Israeli innovation meets U.S. Market: Country expects strong contingency at D.C.'s AdvaMed 2010

Innovation is once again about to hit the American marketplace. A hand-picked selection of some of the most state-of-the-art life science technologies in Israel will be in the area next month as part of the Maryland/Israel Development Center’s delegation to AdvaMed 2010: The MedTech Conference.

The top U.S. names in life sciences and medical devices will be at the conference, a three-day, sophisticated corporate partnering event. MIDC’s business exchange program offers new face to people-to-people connections

The Maryland/Israel Development Center has launched an initiative that puts a new perspective on people-to-people connections. In late spring, the Baltimore-Ashkelon Partnership Committee provided a $12,000 grant to the MIDC to oversee a developing business student exchange. This project entails student and faculty exchanges between the University of Baltimore’s Business School and Ashkelon College.

“Last time we were in Ashkelon with the Partnership, we received a tour of Ashkelon College. We asked them about business classes and they said they don’t have too many,” Barry Bogage, Executive Director of the MIDC, said. “The idea came to us that maybe the University of Baltimore could deliver its classes to Ashkelon, offer distance learning, and that students and faculty could participate in exchanges and learn about one another.”
