Why MIDC?

February 8, 2012

A unique opportunity for business professionals

The Associated’s Maryland/Israel Development Center (MIDC) is not your average non-profit. It is a pioneering hub for local and Israeli companies to do business. The MIDC has enabled scores of Israeli companies to enter the U.S. market, playing an active role in the establishment of almost three dozen Israeli offices in Maryland. Sitting at the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development (DBED), MIDC provides an instant infrastructure to ensure the success of its clients.

So what makes the MIDC a non-profit? It is how it does its work. Individual, business and corporate volunteer members are instrumental in helping the MIDC achieve successes. The MIDC calls upon its membership network to meet with the Israeli companies considering a move, helps spark partnerships and collaborations. MIDC members strengthen the Israeli economy, help expand Maryland’s international reach and enable Israeli companies to grow their businesses and showcase their work in the U.S. This is great for the Israelis. It is equally beneficial to Marylanders.

In 2012, the MIDC is launching a wide-array of new programs and services, making it even easier for its members to access Israeli and Maryland business leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, scientists and government officials in the fields of life sciences, medical technology, cyber security and other advanced industries. Members receive special briefings to learn about creative technology and innovative products. They are offered discounted or free entrance to events where they find potential customers, investment prospects and trading partners (Israeli and others from Maryland).

MIDC membership is customized to meet the needs of each individual and business. As an Individual Member, you can be listed in the MIDC membership directory and attend programs at a discounted fee. Small Business Members (those whose companies have up to 20 employees) and Corporate Members (20 or more employees) receive even greater exposure in the MIDC membership Directory and free guest passes to networking events, among other benefits. (A full listing of membership benefits can be found online at www.MarylandIsrael.org/Membership.)

All of us want to assist Israel. For many of us, sending a check or travelling there may be the perfect way to express our generosity. For local professionals, joining The Associated’s Maryland/Israel Development Center may make the most tangible difference.
