Venture Investment Increases by 21%

Maryland venture capital investments totaled $357 million in 2010, a 21% increase over 2009, in an analysis of venture capital totals by the State Science and Technology Institute. Maryland's venture dollars per capita ($63) is higher than 43 other states. U.S. venture capital investments totaled $21.8 billion in 2010, an increase of 19.4% over 2009, and the first increase since 2007 according to the National Venture Capital Association and PricewaterhouseCoopers Moneytree Survey. The Software and Clean Technology sectors both experienced significant increases.
