Israel Accepted into the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)

OECD countries recently agreed to invite Israel to become a member of the organization. “This is an important step towards Israel’s integration into the global economy,” said Governor of the Bank of Israel, Stanley Fischer. OECD brings together the governments of countries committed to democracy and the market economy from around the world to support sustainable economic growth, boost employment, raise living standards, maintain financial stability, assist other countries' economic development and contribute to growth in world trade.

MedispecMedispec Makes 'Waves' in Maryland

Medispec is a story of success, an example of how a start-up Israeli company fueled with innovation, creativity and the right leadership can bloom in just over a decade and be recognized in America as a leader in its field. Medispec, a manufacturer of shock wave medical devices, was launched in Yehud, Israel, just outside Tel Aviv. It provides non-invasive solutions for use by urologists, orthopedists, cardiologists and even veterinarians. Several years ago, it opted to open an office in America. The company chose Germantown, Maryland. It set up shop with the help of the Maryland/Israel Development Center.

BDBD Technologies Engages with Israel

BD is engaged in the Israeli medical technology sector. Albert A. Lauritano, director of business development at BD Technologies, said the company, which has operations in more than 50 countries, views Israel as a potential partner because of its vibrant life science research community and especially the incubator system.

Though BD does not have formal operations in the Holy Land, the company engages in regular technology scouting there to evaluate first-hand emerging medical technologies.
