Israel’s Strong Economy: Highlights from 2010

2010 was an important year for the Israeli economy, with over 4.5 percent growth of the country’s Gross National Produc (GNP). Inflation in the last 12 months was less than 2.5 percent. Israel’s ranking in the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Report hit 24 (+3) and in the IMD Global Competitiveness Yearbook hit 17 (+7).

As the country celebrated the 25th anniversary of the U.S.-Israel Free Trade Agreement, the country was filled with other exciting economic news:

  • Israel was invited to join the Organization for Economic Development, OECD.
  • The U.S. Chamber of Commerce launched the U.S.-Israel Business Initiative.
  • Israeli tourism hit an all-time high, with more than 3.4 million tourists visiting the country.
